Lots of Dimples
Like indentations found on the cheeks of blushing teenage girls the world over, little divots, otherwise known as ‘dimples’, can be found covering the surface of a standard golf ball. In fact, international golfing regulations state that there must be exactly 336 divots per ball. What are they for, though? Scientificamerica.com shares that these dimples actually create a film of air around the ball as it travels – aiding its flight and maximising distance.
